'I want to help and guide children and

adolescents in their development.'

I'm Daphne, owner of Your Base by Daphne. In the summer of 2025, I emigrated from the Netherlands to Spain. I live here with my husband, daughter, son, and dog. I love life, the sea, traveling, discovering other cultures, sports (especially running, strength training, swimming, and surfing), yoga, spending time with family and friends, and my work.

I started my studies at the ALO (General Education), but I wanted to focus more on individual children. Ultimately, I completed a Bachelor's degree in Pedagogy (University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands), specializing in Psychosocial Work. Afterward, I worked for several years in youth care, including as a childcare worker and juvenile probation officer.

I then enjoyed organizing (inter)national medical conferences for almost 15 years within our own company, Status Plus BV. What I loved most about this was bringing people from all over the world together to share knowledge, or rather, "Creating Global Connections for a Healthier World."

With the birth of our daughter (2009) and son (2012), our priorities changed. Finding a balance between work, sports, social network, and peace within the family became important.

In 2021, I decided to return to my passion for helping children who are facing developmental challenges get back on track with a three-year postgraduate program. For me, the program primarily involved slowing down: I was used to a "fast" life. Slowing down brought peace and calmness and taught me to appreciate how much my body can tell me if I listen carefully. I started living less from my head and more from my heart and intuition.

Now I guide/coach children and young people through psychomotor work to support their personal development, (emotional) regulation, social skills, and self-confidence. My approach is playful, creative, and tailored to each unique child. I collaborate with parents and schools to provide the best possible support.

Please note: psychomotor work is guidance, not medical or psychological treatment. No diagnoses are made. If necessary, a referral to a certified professional will be made.

For me, psychomotor work brings everything together: through movement, play, and activities, we explore challenges together and listen carefully to our bodies. This is how children learn new skills. In a safe environment, they practice new behaviors that they carry with them throughout their lives.

I want every child to have this kind of guidance/coaching, because paying attention, getting to know yourself, and practicing new behaviors can enrich their lives. Learning and living sometimes means daring to tackle difficult things, but above all, having fun, playing, and moving.

You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.
